Muscat, Oman
Ooredoo participated in the 50th Arab Deaf Week, reaffirming its commitment to accessibility, diversity, and digital inclusion. Under the patronage of Her Excellency Dr. Laila bint Ahmed Al Najjar, Minister of Social Development, the event focused on advancing education, employment, and technology for people with hearing disabilities, an agenda closely aligned with Ooredoo’s values.
Ooredoo proudly showcased their experience following the launch of their dedicated hearing-impaired customer care centre, to provide sign language video support. It is just a part of the company’s inclusive workplace culture and philosophy, serving as a powerful reminder of what’s possible when people are given the tools, respect, and encouragement to thrive.
Speaking on the significance of the event, Feras Al Shaikh, Director of Branding Communications & Corporate Affairs at Ooredoo, explained: “At Ooredoo, we believe in creating space for everyone to thrive. Inclusion is not just a policy; it’s a practice woven into the fabric of our organisation. We’re proud of our colleagues who bring fresh perspectives and incredible strengths to our team. As digital transformation accelerates, Ooredoo is here to make sure it’s inclusive, human, and real. Our presence at Arab Deaf Week reflects a deeper belief: when everyone is connected, we all go further.”
From launching Oman’s first sign language customer service channel and providing tactile signage for visitors and customers in the reception area, to rolling out dedicated workplace support programmes, Ooredoo continues to lead in accessible innovation. These efforts form part of the company’s broader ESG strategy and support Oman’s Vision 2040 goals, which emphasise inclusive human capital development, ICT integration, and equal access to opportunities for people with disabilities.
