Muscat, Oman
Ooredoo is redefining competitive gaming in Oman by launching the Ooredoo E-Sports Cup 2026, first nationwide, multi-city tournament. This platform recognises Omani players, connects the gaming community across cities and paves a new road for youth ambition through e-sports.
The tournament begins in Nizwa, travels to Sohar and culminates in a Grand Final in Muscat from 21–23 May 2026. Online participation will extend the platform further, with rounds open to players across the country.
Developed in partnership with Oman Broadband, the Ooredoo E-Sports Cup is the first time a telecommunications operator in Oman has created a nationwide youth gaming platform at this scale. This deliberate shift positions Omani gaming as a legitimate ambition and Ooredoo is building the infrastructure to match it.
The Nizwa online qualifiers took place from 27–29 March 2026, with the on-ground semi-final and final scheduled for 10 April at Nizwa Grand Mall.
Jaffer Khamis Al Khaboori, Acting Chief Commercial Officer at Ooredoo Oman, said: “Omani youth have built real skill in gaming within their communities, but a stage to take them further has been missing. We created this tournament for our players, on our network, recognised by Ookla for delivering the best 5G gaming experience. We believe in this generation of Omani gamers, and we are here to give them the moment they deserve.”
The Ooredoo E-Sport Cup 2026 brings connectivity and community to the heart of Oman’s gaming future where home broadband is a key enabler of competitive play. Eng. Nasser Al-Hinai, VP Commercial and Strategy at Oman Broadband, added: “Competitive gaming is a direct test of digital infrastructure. The fact that Oman can host a national esports tournament of this quality is a reflection of how far our connectivity ecosystem has come. In addition to business, this platform is proof that Oman’s digital backbone is ready to support culture, youth and community.”
The competition will feature three leading titles: Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Valorant, and League of Legends. Players are awarded with prizes of OMR 500 per game title for regional winners and OMR 1,000 per title at the Grand Final. This will also include a free full year of Ooredoo Home Broadband for winners.
Beyond the matches, each stop on the tour will deliver an immersive gaming experience for the wider community. Visitors can explore a dedicated showcase of games developed by Omani creators, test their skills on racing simulators with live leaderboards, and enjoy fast-paced mini-games designed for players of all levels.
