Internal sustainability campaign and blood drive support community wellbeing and healthcare needs
Muscat, Oman
This Earth Day, Ooredoo is bringing employees together through initiatives focused on community wellbeing and environmental responsibility.
In hospitals across Oman, donated blood supports care every day, from emergency cases to ongoing treatments. Keeping that supply steady relies on people choosing to give. In March, the Department of Blood Banks Services (DBBS) called for more than 200 donors following a decline in blood reserves.
A blood donation drive held in partnership with Sultan Qaboos University Hospital is a central part of Ooredoo’s efforts. Employees from across the organisation took part, with each donation becoming part of patient care and strengthening the country’s healthcare system.
Sulaiman Al Mughairi, Director of People and Culture at Ooredoo, said: “A single unit of blood can save lives, yet supply remains under pressure. We often talk about connection in terms of technology, but the most important connections are human. A donation that contributes to someone’s care. A small change that reduces harmful impact on the environment. Oman does not have a shortage of awareness, it needs action. Our role is to turn that intention into real change, whether through giving blood or adopting more responsible everyday habits.”
Ooredoo also launched an internal Earth Day campaign inviting employees to actively participate in protecting the environment. Participants are invited to share sustainability pledges that support greener living, from recycling and reducing energy use to conserving water. The initiative fosters a culture of accountability and collective action.
These activities are part of the company’s ESG strategy, focused on long-term positive impact. By mobilising its people and healthcare partners, Ooredoo advances national priorities through actions that have a lasting impact.
