Only digital or virtual goods are eligible for Charge to Mobile, not physical goods, such as clothes or groceries. Examples of digital goods include:

  • Virtual online gaming and music
  • Virtual in-game items and goods
  • Virtual currency and points
  • Virtual goods from social networks
  • Subscriptions to access games
  • E-books

There are two types of purchase transactions you can make:

  • Standard: a one-time, non-recurring purchase of an item or service from an approved online merchant website.
  • Subscription: an automatic recurring purchase that takes place weekly or monthly, according to the terms for the item, as defined on a merchant’s website.

When you purchase digital media from a participating merchant, you will have the chance at checkout to select the “Charge to Mobile” option and follow the instructions. Generally, after selecting this option, you will need to follow these steps:

  1. 1- When prompted, enter your Ooredoo mobile phone number and sometimes your email address.
  2. 2- If you are making a purchase from a website, a text message may be sent to your device with a temporary password. Enter this password in the merchant website when requested.
  3. 3- A confirmation SMS will be sent to you containing the product description and confirmation of the purchase amount deducted from your Ooredoo account.

All customers will receive an SMS confirming a digital purchase and the amount deducted as a result of the purchase. The SMS will include the following transaction details:

  • Time of purchase
  • Content name
  • Amount charged

Please keep this SMS as a reference.

For postpaid customers, all charges will appear under the Mobile Service used at the time of purchase. Transactions will appear under a section called:

“Itemised Usage Details: VALUE ADDED SERVICES -> Smartphone application purchases.

For prepaid customers, the purchase amount will be automatically deducted from your balance.

Charge to Mobile has the following limitations:

  • There’s a 15 OMR limit per calendar month for prepaid and per bill cycle for postpaid customers.
  • A limit of 10 OMR per one-time transaction.
  • Only digital or virtual goods are eligible (e.g. online gaming, music, apps, e-books).

You should contact the merchant that you made a purchase from if you have any product questions.

There are no refunds for digital purchases unless there is a technical error and a payment was made with no digital purchase received. In such cases, you should contact Ooredoo customer care for further investigation. For further information, please refer to the merchant’s website policy on purchase refunds.
