SMS - Short Message Service

SMS is a fast, fun and cost effective way to confirm a meeting, organise your social life or just say hello. SMS allows you to send and receive text messages of up to 160 Internationalcharacters or 70 Arabic characters. The number of characters per Arabic SMS may differ from one mobile handset to another. For language selection, please refer to your mobile handset user guide.

Sending messages

Select the message option on your mobile handset, key in your message and follow the on-screen instructions to enter the recipient’s number and send. Most new mobile handsets also support the sending of multiple SMS messages, as well as enhanced messages with black and white pictures. We recommend that you consult your mobile handset user guide to confirm that you will be able to do this.

Receiving messages

You will automatically be notified of incoming messages. The form of such notification will depend on your mobile handset settings and will vary from handset to handset.

Sending / Receiving messages abroad

When you are abroad, and you are capable of making calls, you should also be able to send and receive SMS messages. For the latest update on where you can send and receive messages abroad, please click here.
